Huia Wines, Marlborough, NZ

Huia Wines was established in 1996 after Claire and Mike Allan had done their time winemaking both in Champagne and elsewhere in Marlborough.

The Huia name originates from the legendary New Zealand bird.

It is unique, as it is the only bird in the world where the bills of the male and female are different in shape and size.

This unique feature along with the bird's beautiful plumage made it highly prized by international collectors and the Maori, where wearing feathers is an honour.

The Huia bird became extinct in 1907.

Huia Wines has become synonymous with quality aromatic whites, Pinot Noir and sparkling wine from the Wairau Valley in Marlborough.

With a focus on organics and biodynamics, Huia makes beautiful wines for today, while protecting the vitality of the soils for future generations.
