Cheers to Christmas Party Season!

Our favourite thing about the festive season? The plethora of parties! Whether you are reuniting with family, celebrating with friends, or thanking your staff for a hard year’s work – there is one thing no good party is complete without…excellent wine! Christmas is a time for giving – so do not cheap out on your guests this year, follow our Christmas party guide and serve the very best.

Office Do

It is a truth universally acknowledged that work Christmas parties can be awkward if organised incorrectly. A room full of people who may have nothing in common but their work PLUS the factor that any tipsy indiscretions committed will have to be relived every workday in the corridor means that very shrewd handling is required. The key? Lots of good food, a convivial atmosphere, and lots of fun activities to prevent the usual embarrassing-karaoke-on-the-table debacle.

Entertainment – Aim for team-based activities - like a pub quiz with a prize for the winning team. Also you could get the whole office together to decorate your party venue as a fun afternoon off work and a chance for everyone to get to know each other a bit better before the party starts!

Food – Keep it simple. We suggest build-your-own burgers or sliders with a good range of fillings and accompaniments. Make sure there are plenty of gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian options, and you’re good to go!

Wine – We recommend our Organic Sparkling Collection and our New Zealand Collection. Start the party off with some unusual fizz before moving on to some of New Zealand’s finest. Going for a mixed case is a good bet so there is something for everyone!

Family Bash

Christmas is a family time – meaning fun and stress in equal measure. Catering to Great Aunt Doris and 5-year old Timmy at the same function can be a struggle but we have found the best way around this is to lay on a great spread and let people fend for themselves!

Entertainment – Opt for timeless classics like Charades – no fiddling about with tiny playing pieces, no risky drawing required near your new cream carpet, and a great time for the theatrical members of the family to excel. Mix up the ages in each group or do Oldies versus Youngsters for extra competition.

Food – Family favourites. We recommend easy bulk bakes like lasagne with plenty of crisps and fresh salads – perfect for people to come and help themselves.

Wine – Our Organic French Selection comes with a fabulous bottle of bubbly to start you off, then five warming reds from across France, perfect for familial cosiness. Family of white drinkers? Opt for a sure-fire favourite with our New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc case.

Friendly Gathering

We love a low-maintenance cocktail party when celebrating with friends. In the likely event that you have friends from different areas of life, a laid-back gathering gives people the opportunity to circulate and mingle, without too much pressure!

Entertainment – Stick to chatting and catching up, with some crowd-friendly music on in the background, or break the ice with a good game of Who Am I? (The rules are simple, everyone picks a person – real or fictional, alive or dead – writes it on post-it, and sticks it to their neighbour’s forehead. Each person must then try to guess who they are by asking a series of ‘yes or no’ questions. Whoever guesses first, wins!)

Food – Go light and plentiful with antipasti, bruschetta, cold meats and cheeses. Perfect for nibbling on while you chat and limits the post-party washing up!

Wine – Keep the Mediterranean theme going with our Italian Organic Collection, or choose the ultimate party drink – Prosecco – with our fabulous case of natural Casa Coste Piane Prosecco. Tastes wonderful and is a great talking point.

So, however you choose to party this winter, choose to celebrate with Sustainable wines! Catering a larger party? Get in touch to see how we could help you celebrate for less with our corporate and party packages.
