NZ House 2014 New Release wines, 22 October

This was a very enjoyable event. Great views of London from the Penthouse at NZ House!

Of the 170 wines on offer, I first focused on the organic and sustainable wineries that I already have on the website such as Ohau, Escarpment and Spy Valley. I have to say without being biased that all these wines were outstanding, with the Ohau wines being especially good, and I am very excited to be bringing these to the UK in the New Year. Watch this space for details of the launch event in early 2015!

After that I went for the other wineries that I know which fall into my brief of sustainable/organic/biodynamic/natural wines, such as Felton Road, Peregrine, Gladstone, Seresin and Mission Estate.

We will have to wait until next year's allocation for the divine Felton Road biodynamic Pinot Noirs from Central Otago but I should be able to source a case this year of their sublime unoaked Elms Chardonnay.

Mission had a stunning 2013 Vineyard Selection Syrah - can't wait to go and visit them in Hawkes Bay in December and see how the organic conversion is coming along.

Gladstone had two excellent Pinot Noirs and a Sauvignon Blanc on offer at the event - I am in discussions about sourcing some of their wines from their UK distributor.

Peregrine are not represented over here at present so I will follow up with them about that.

I visited Seresin in Marlborough two years ago and will be going back for another visit this December to investigate their offering more deeply - so watch this space!
